"This Is Brown County" was the leading online source for important news and information in and around Nashville, Brown County, Indiana. The photography-based Internet magazine was locally owned, locally operated and locally empowered.

One of three newsroom staff members, I was responsible for nearly all of the photography for this small weekly newspaper. As a writer, I regularly covered the police and court, education and sports beats, and frequently reported and wrote on local government. I also handled most of the newspaper's investigative reporting as the need arose. I was an advocate for openness in government and routinely won awards from the Hoosier State Press Association for photography, writing and community service.

I petitioned myself into this previously non-existent position in order to improve the sports coverage in the local 4,000-circulation weekly newspaper and in hopes of creating a permanent position for myself in the company. During that time I also began doing investigative stories for the newspaper.

A short-lived newspaper and Web site serving the motorsports fraternity. Responsibilities included all business aspects of the publication, determining content and layout, reporting, writing, editing, photography and Web design and updating.

I was responsible for scheduling processing/printing runs of both commercial and retail clients on Noritsu mini-lab equipment, and oversaw the birth and growth of a Macintosh-based digital imaging system in the early stages of the industry.

My responsibilities included photographing individuals and groups in both studio and natural environments, operating and troubleshooting Noritsu mini-lab processing and printing equipment and customer service.

As the only photographer on staff of this small daily newspaper, I was responsible for enterprise (feature) photography, news photography and sports photography. I operated the newspaper's black and white darkroom for both the newsroom and the advertising department and I received numerous awards from the Kentucky Press Association for my photography.

I was responsible for creating and executing a lesson plan based on standard criteria for an introductory class in photojournalism at the private liberal arts college.
