I have been working in community organizations in the Rochester, NY, area since 1998 serving as a youth member of the Prevention Partners Board of Directors while being involved with their Speakers Bureau and volunteering. In the summer of 2000, I was hired part time for outreach and program assistance. I also served as the secretary of the Board until the merger with Huther-Doyle in 2002. After leaving for college, I worked toward my degree with the desire to remain in the field. Since my return to Rochester in 2004, I have worked with kids in residential settings (group homes and locked units), as well as with both children and their families in multiple roles within the NYS Office of Mental Health HCBS Waiver program. During this time, I created curricula that were used as models for group work for kids and their families around emotional awareness and leadership skills. After time spent in early childhood education due to the recession and a bit of burnout, I went into management in retail before returning to community services in 2018 through the Babies 1st Program at Rochester Regional Health. I fell in love with the population that the program serves and am currently working with the same group of women as a DOH Health Homes Care Manager through GRHHN at Healthy Moms. Mental health is still my favorite place to be, and is something I am very passionate about.
