As product owner I lead 2 teams, each consisting of appr. 10 engineers with various competencies. My main task is to get roadmap and the working scope of the teams aligned with various projects we serve, all within the DUV business line. Moreover, one of my goals is to enable the teams to execute bottom-up development, to have the great ideas from our engineers find their way into the NPI projects. Driven by my personal interest I try to keep involved in communication with our suppliers, trying to support my teams with the business aspect of our project.

For a heavy duty diesel multiyear engine project, optimum fuel economy and reliability has to be achieved for our customers while complying to the future legislation. Through the different stages of the project as a lead engineer I’m responsible for the performance and durability of the engines and after treatment systems. Initially it started with definition and demonstrating various proof of concepts. Then it proceeded by organizing test programs to support calibration, durability demonstration, OBD and support of the development program at our North American counterparts within the PACCAR group.Within the project the lead engineer is the key figure between the engineering teams and engineering/project/senior management.

To provide optimum fuel efficiency for our customers while complying to legal legislation is an ever demanding task for the airpath of a heavy duty truck engine. As a lead developer of the airpath system the objective is to generate optimum efficiency while maintaining sufficient controllability with the complex system of a combustion chamber, control valves, coolers and variable turbocharging. Together with suppliers and a multi-disciplinairy team requirements are defined and various technologies introduced and validated to meet those requirements.

Lead development of the engine brake systems applied in the engines of PACCAR heavy duty diesel engines. Continuous improvements on simulations, design and control strategy enhanced the engine performance and reliability for our customers. Ultimately resulting, in coorporation with our suppliers, in a complete redesign of the mechanics and hydraulics enabling a significant increase in engine brake performance and comfort for the MX-13 engine.
