Air quality expert, specializing in transport policies. I implement this expertise drawing up and evaluating policy plans. Focus on type approval including vehicle emissions testing and vehicle tampering. Project leader of a broad policy study in which multiple international expert groups are combined with multiple national Belgian authorities. The aim of the project is the development of strategies to monitor vehicle emissions in real driving conditions and enforce emission limits. The project involves legal assessment, data analysis and the organization of Belgium's first remote sensing campaign aimed at vehicle emissions.

Stationed in the chief inspectorate of the Flemish Environmental Inspection Division, my job as coordinator of environmental enforcement policy concerning air emissions involves:- Chair of the workgroup: 'Environmental enforcement: Air'. This workgroup consisting of experts provides a forum to harmonize environmental enforcement within the Flemish region, to attend to technical and legal issues and to exchange information with/proposals to legislative institutions.- Contracting laboratories in order to carry out measurements and analyses of emissions assigned by the department- Carry out/coordinate studies, e.g. to draw up a new risk based air-monitoring programme, to assess specific emissions by specific industrial sectors, evaluate the implemantation of environmental law, ...- Proposing and drawing up enforcement campaigns relating to air-emissions- Providing input in order to improve or draw up new legislation. Provide input to implement European directives. Participating in relevant BREF revisions.- Reporting to numerous parties: the European Commission, Public reports, internal management, ...- Collaboration with other partners and agencies such as: the Flemish Environment Agency (VMM), the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO), the Environment Department (DLNE/DOMG), ...
