• Advise 225 first-year and second-year students per semester by holding individual meetings, building strong, long-lasting relationships, along with tracking personal and academic progress• Refer students to suitable resources, campus departments and programs, and personnel in accordance with their specific needs and objectives• Assist students in their leadership development by identifying areas of improvement, as well as informing and directing them toward curricular and co-curricular opportunities• Provide holistic advising students by developing trusted advisor relationships and guiding them toward academic excellence, mental wellbeing, and career readiness• Create, analyze, and update student records to track academic and personal progress• Prepare monthly reports for ETE Director to communicate number of students met with and needing to meet, students’ progress toward completing semester requirements, and address needed support • Interpret and stay up to date with university academic policies and procedures to support students’ progress and college success• Collaborate and communicate with other on-campus student support services to aid retention efforts of ETE and CSUDH• Supervise 3 peer mentors each academic year by providing leadership and professional development opportunities along with assessing and supporting areas of growth• Meet weekly with peer mentors, individually and as a group, to provide feedback, delegate tasks, and monitor their personal and professional goals • Coordinate and communicate with peer mentors to provide holistic support for students• Serve as the lead point of contact for assigned students and peer mentors to better respond to requests, questions, and concerns

• Organized and administered a student support group event, consisting of 8-10 students, to provide a safe and empowering space as well as enhance students’ learning, development, and success • Created monthly Guardian Scholars Program newsletters containing important deadlines and reminders, transfer and graduation information, scholarship opportunities, as well as programs and services available to current and former foster youth • Implemented outreach techniques by designing a Cypress College Guardian Scholars Instagram page and posting scholarship opportunities, upcoming on- and off-campus events, helpful resources, important deadlines and dates, and positive affirmations

- Provided individual counseling for approximately 50-65 students on a weekly basis by applying career development theory, resources, assessments, and strategies to specific career planning topics- Developed, presented, and co-facilitated career-related workshops and presentations for audiences of up to 40 students- Applied basic counseling techniques and knowledge of the career development process to identify interventions, resources, and services appropriate for students’ needs- Critiqued resumes, cover letters and other job search correspondence by providing written and oral feedback to students- Guided students in major and career exploration by evaluating their personalities, skills, values, and interests in relation to choosing a major and/or suitable work environments- Coordinated and trained with College Career Specialists on career development projects, employer relations, workshops, and presentations- Assisted students in developing actions plans for acquiring academically-related work experience such as internships, job shadowing, and volunteer opportunities

- Advised and mentored 40 first-year students, including President’s Scholars and Guardian Scholars, toward academic and personal excellence- Served as a peer mentor for 2 sections of University Studies 100: Foundations for College Success and Lifelong Learning- Acted as a resource, support system, and role model to students in the First Year Experience (FYE) program- Assisted students in reaching and maintaining academic success goals by holding regular one-on-one meetings- Trained as an FYE Academic Coach to help students examine academic concerns and perceived barriers to success in areas such as time management, procrastination, schedule building, and study skills- Planed and facilitated community building and student-centered programming such as First YearExperience Welcome Celebration, Midterm Madness, Halloween Spooktacular Fest, and End of the Year Celebration- Led and coordinated the designing, planning, and development process for The Getty Museum Field Trip—a high-impact, academic field trip that gathers about 300 first-year students, faculty, and staff- Support students through New Student Orientation, Field Trips, Academic Probation, Welcome to CSUF Day, and other student support activities

- Advised, mentored, and guided 50 second-year-students and 60 first-year-students toward resources and events to create an educational living experience- Planned, advertised, and facilitated approximately 5 social and 1 educational programs and events per quarter- Addressed LGBTQ+ issues in the community by facilitating educational programs in collaboration with the Resource Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity on campus - Held one-on-one meetings with first-year Resident Assistants (RAs) to foster individual growth and promote conflict resolution amongst residents and other RAs- Atended a 3-week course (Student Leadership Development) that aided my understanding of college student peer-helping and leadership- Introduced to theory, research, and practice of college student peer-helping and leadership, including student development, helping skills, group facilitation, diversity, challenges faced by students, and community-building
