Part-time now managing Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) as sailing and family keep me busy - although, to preserve the remaining grey cells I do occasional site surveys & sampling, training and safe disposal of hazardous waste. Decontamination of radioactive and other hazardous materials soon became my forte which progressed to challenging (and quite exciting) specialised decontamination operations when I lead a small but trusted and well trained team at UK and European nuclear installations.Nearer home, I managed the development of an innovative decontamination facility cleaning Oil& Gas components and was instrumental in winning a long term contract with a major UK company to design, build and operate a purpose built facility to de-scale the Naturally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) allowing unrestricted re-use of the equipment. In 2001, I formed 'normtec' my own small company serving the needs of a few power companies and maintain a client list of repute - albeit part-time these days.
