As Head Leadership Development Impact and Support, Roger governs Leadership Development (LD) doctrine and charts the way ahead for LD in the SAF. In addition, he continually seeks ways to digitalise and strengthen leadership development at the workplace.

In the shift towards to a learner-centric curriculum, Roger led a team of consultants to help transformed the curriculum for over 200 courses. In addition, he also partnered over 20 training institutes to operationalise the transformation so that trainers are more effective and efficient in their delivery and learners achieve their learning outcomes in an engaging manner. Roger has also introduced the use of learning technology to improve the work processes at training institutes, operational units and domain HQs. He believes digital transformation is beyond the equipping of digital enablers, and will require a review at the systemic level. This will then help users achieve better performance while reducing unnecessary manual work.

As Deputy Head, MINDEF Joint Operations Centre, Roger answered for the management and reporting of all incidents that happened in MINDEF and Singapore Armed Forces units. He was also responsible for the daily running of the operations centre, ensuring timely responses to any incident. Roger was also in charge of liasing and coordinating with other Whole-of-Government agencies (e.g. Maritime Port Authority, Singapore Police Force) on national level incidents.

A year long course to prepare students for unit command.

As the operations officer in an unit tasked to protect SAF camps and bases, Roger planned and executed matters related to operations, security and training. Assisting the Unit Commanding Officer, he ensured that security troopers were well trained in their competencies, before deploying them to their respective camps and bases to conduct security operations.

As a staff officer in Centre for Leadership Development, Roger conducted leadership development workshops for officers who were pursuing their undergraduate studies. During his tour, he was also the organising secretariat for the inaugural SAF Leadership Development Seminar, attended by over 500 guests from within and outside SAF.

As the Officer Commanding, Roger answered for the training, welfare, discipline and administration of over 150 men in his company. He was responsible to train newly enlisted recruits to become operationally ready NSFs within a short span of one year. During his tour, he was also roped to organise the National Day Parade, where he was tasked to oversee the crowd management during both rehearsals and actual day.
