Working as the Environmental Health and Safety Manager, I directed the corporate Safety Program for 2 separate Florida facilities composed of 1000 employees in total. I contributed to the drastic drop of ORI (OSHA Recordable Incidents) by 70%, obtaining a single-digit ORI for both facilities. I also spearheaded onsite works related to incident investigations, analyzing root causes, developing corrective actions and solutions to prevent re-occurrence, and coordinated well with the injured worker, physician, employer and claims adjuster. I even performed safety inspections and generated an investigation report to ensure that corrective actions would eliminate unsafe acts. In addition, I supported the Regional Workers Comp. representative to assist Light Duty associates until returned back to full duty status. Lastly, I was delegated to organize and handle the entire First Responders team and the Safety Committees in both facilities.

As the Corporate Safety Director, I maintained a company-wide OSHA incident rating below 3, resulting in a positive reduction in recordable incidents contributing to the company’s savings of $300K compared to the past trends and continuous company development. I governed a corporate-level safety program employing 1500+ union and non-union employees for facilities in OH, IN and KY. I also handled compensation claims with the 3rd party admins to monitor return to work status for all work-related injuries. I even demonstrated high organizational standards in conducting follow-up meetings with the onsite management teams to make recommendations on all OSHA violations, physical hazards and unsafe behavioral changes. Furthermore, I generated audits and administrative tasks for the team to promote proactive thinking while adhering to state/federal laws.

Throughout the years, being part of the company as the Regional Safety Manager, I was awarded the “Most Improved Region of the Year” for the year 2006 due to strict organizational and management skills. Most importantly, I utilized a wide variety of training methods and strategies to all levels of line management on incident and accident investigation, SLAM (Stop, Look, Access, Manage), and properly identifying causal factors and corrective actions.
