When I was diagnosed with cancer followed by epilepsy and finally a stroke, I lost my career, my wife, my house and all my finances. I failed to purchase long-term disability. Now, 12 years later, my mission is clear: I'm called to help educate the 67% of Americans who work in the private-sector and who don't have long-term disability insurance. I want to make them aware of the need of protecting their assets and to consider purchasing long-term disability insurance. Amputees lose their limbs to war, accidents and untreated infections. In developing countries, many amputees receive little to no care for their injuries and lost limbs. Without a continuum of care, amputees can experience a decrease in quality of life, limited mobility and potential discrimination.It is the goal of Prosthetics Outreach Foundation to ensure that children and adults with limb loss or limb deformities in developing countries have access to orthopedic and physical rehabilitation services, so they can enjoy lifelong mobility and participate more fully in their daily lives

• Diagnosis - Through advanced diagnostic imaging equipment and bio-science• 2 Surgeries – 1 for brain tumor and 1 for epilepsy; was kept awake (see March 2005 National Geographic for a similar story) for a portion of the surgery so neurosurgeons and I could interact to better understand surgical strategy to avoid creating a disability.• Radiology – Spent time in advanced measuring within millimeters when Dr’s are specifically targeted radiation to avoid potential radiology side-effects• Chemotherapy – Dramatically advanced with the recent US introduction of Temodar. While proven in Europe US FDA test results hadn’t been approved when I began the Temodar. 6 months into my therapy, it was announced Temodar has proven an increase in life expectancy.• Over 2 months hospital in-patient; Over 500 classes in physical, occupational, speech therapy.
