Learning and Development has always been my passion having been involved in learning and development in the Business and Voluntary sector over the last twenty years. My most recent role was as National Referee Manager for Development at the Football Association in Wembley. Within this role my focus was on the Recruitment, Retention and Development of referees in the national game at ‘grass roots’ level. This was a strategic and operational role with a huge influence on the development of refereeing from grass roots to the International stage. This relied very heavily on the development of our volunteers as tutors, mentors and coaches of referees to ensure that the appropriate support mechanisms were in place. I have also been involved in the full training needs analysis process for the FA Refereeing and County FA Referee departments including the recruitment and induction of part time and fully employed Referee Development Officers to deliver the FA Referee Strategy at County level.My previous roles within the AXA and Nat West Bank Groups involved me in developing and delivering numerous Leadership and Soft Skills training courses over varying timescales. This also involved a full training needs analysis together with a complete evaluation of the success of the interventions for the business going forward.Within the Football Association the two roles I have held have both involved a large amount of ‘up front’ delivery to audiences from volunteers to senior figures within varying Football Associations across the world. I am equally comfortable in addressing either and have produced several training packages for the FA to train referees, tutors, mentors and coaches at varying levels as well as other Federations and Confederations globally. I am now seeking opportunities to use these skills and experience within training and development either in business, sport or the voluntary sector.
