He is an experienced cyber security leader, engineer, teacher and an expert witness in software intellectual property, forensic computer analysis, breach investigations and resultant litigation, information security, and related technology areas. In addition to being a leader and teacher in cyber security, he has testified at many trials, in arbitration, given depositions in many more, authored scores of expert reports, and served as a court appointed neutral and independent consultant. Currently he is a Senior Cyber Research Scientist at Peraton Labs in Silver Spring. At SRC he was responsible for all network and computer operations at the JPARC Range in Alaska for the annual Red Flag exercises. Prior to his role at SRC, he taught full time at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, was the resident security resource for the Long Range Discrimination Radar at Clear and the resident security resource for the Army at the MTC. He was previously employed by AT&T as a Cyber Security expert at the US Courts and for the USMC.He was previously at DGI in Vienna, VA as Managing Director and CISO where he led the cyber-security efforts. He evaluated academic papers and other cyber efforts of countries of interest to IC. Reverse engineered malware. Served as SME for software development efforts, hardware, and other technology. Prior to that he was in the Forensic and Litigation Consulting group at FTI Consulting, Inc. He led the strategic information security and intellectual property litigation support practices in the forensic and litigation consulting and technology business units of FTI.He was formerly Vice President Services Delivery at TruSecure where he founded professional services, such as Application Security Review. He managed the defined security program. After stints with several government contractors including Litton/PRC, his clients include 25 of the Fortune 100 and 20 of the Global 100 and many federal agencies. He also holds both the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) credentials.Beginning in 2010 he became an Adjunct in the new Information Assurance / Information Security graduate track at Georgetown University where he developed and taught the five courses he developed. From 2001-2010 he was Adjunct at the University of Virginia in the Northern Virginia Graduate Center. Currently he teaches security as an adjunct at several colleges and universities as well as in two cyber boot camps.
