My first task was to be put in charge of a major integrated deployment for a critical project in the postal distribution services area. This involved coordinating 5 different companies, while developing the plan to deploy infrastructure and push software out across a wide ranging set of platforms, with minimum impact to the existing architecture. This meant managing risk and communications between the multiple development teams, who were operating with different development methodologies.I have also taken the opportunity to attend courses to extend my knowledge of the business management side. This includes courses on earned value management, program management and business capture. As well as further developing my experience of working in an Agile environment (Scrum methodology)There have also been opportunities for working within the new business section, managing and agreeing requirements for new opportunities. As well as preparing the documentation that went alongside that bid. As part of this a new aid for developing estimates of time (and cost) required has been implemented. This has been rolled out for system engineering and is currently being augmented for the other engineering functions. This has further lead to documenting designs and leading design reviews.
