Since April this year, I have suspended my other activities to assist in the scientific response to the Australian COVID-19 outbreak, especially in my hometown of Melbourne. Among my products in this period has been a Facebook-derived crisis mobility data portal, which is free for any to access at 'mobility-aus.org'. My work has been covered in local outlets including The Age, The Herald Sun, 3AW Radio, and the Channel 7 evening news.When I'm not working to inform policy makers and the public, the following captures my usual mood:---Not too many people get to live their childhood dream for a career - and almost nobody gets to live two of them.When I was a kid, all I wanted to do was explore strange new worlds and tell stories.
