I provided friendly and efficient service to all guests, ensuring high quality experiences and resolving any concerns promptly. This position allowed me to improve on my collaboration skills as I worked effectively with team members to maintain a smooth workflow, ensuring all orders across the different areas (sandwich, salads, drinks) are completed with careful attention to detail, while keeping the overall service time low. I demonstrated the ability to learn quickly across all the different stations in the kitchen, to adapt to changing demands as different hours or different days required different needs, and to take initiative to complete tasks independently, especially if there were not enough people to prepare meals. I received training across all areas both in the front-of-house and back-of-house operations. This included line service (barista, sandwich prep, salad prep), quality control, dishwashing, drive-thru, cashier (becoming proficient in operating cash registers, handling cash and credit card transactions), sanitation (dining room and kitchen), inventory control, and bakery.

I spent the summer working under the supervision of Dr. Kishore Guda in his lab at the Case Western Reserve Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, which focused on esophageal adenocarcinoma. With them, I learned sterile technique, various assay protocols for PCR, western blot, proliferation assays, collected and analyzed cancer cells, and worked with cell culture and maintaining/nourishing cells. Additionally, I studied and learned about the intricacies of esophageal adenocarcinoma to understand the research and to help present it in a coherent and knowledgeable manner.
