• Assisted the dryer development team in physics-based modeling of heat pump dryers in Dymola and Modelica. The project was a collaborative effort of teams from USA, India, Italy, and Germany.• Worked extensively on mathematical modeling of subsystems like condensers, evaporators, compressors, and capillary tube, as well as complete dryer models for NA and EU markets.• Developed fin efficiency model for a new class of counter-flow heat exchangers which reduced heat flux error by 94%.• Validated the model against test data. The data was extracted from a LabVIEW file using Matlab, and imported into Dymola for comparison with simulation output.• Used modeFrontier to minimize the error between simulation outputs and test data. Dymola, Python, and Matlab nodes were used to setup optimization workflow. To reduce simulation time, the dryer model was later exported as an FMU and simulated in Excel using an FMI Excel add-in developed by Modelon.

I worked closely with the engineering department of the company and assisted in assembly of extrusion dies and gear pump in the tool room and firing and maintenance of rotary kiln. I also worked in various other departments like maintenance, grinding and molding and learned about crisis management. Working with the team of rotary kiln maintenance helped me gain hands-on experience of new-age temperature measuring instruments and understand practical application of thermodynamic principles.
