About Rohan Rao
I work on enterprise generative AI and large language models (LLMs) at NVIDIA! I lead and architect projects on multimodal agents leveraging structured knowledge graphs for retrieval augmented generation. Previously, I spent 2.5 years working on NVIDIA's DRIVE autonomous vehicles team.I have experience in the areas of electronics, computer vision, deep learning, and robotics. Over the past 6 years, I have worked on various aspects of autonomous driving, starting with an internship in NVIDIA's hardware team working on the Xavier SoC, then two years working on my own startup, where we raised over $100,000, filed 4 provisional patents, published 2 papers at a conference in Japan, participated and won autonomous driving events in China and India, and interviewed with and were awarded an equity-free grant from Y Combinator in Silicon Valley. In Summer 2019, I interned with PIX Moving in China, where I worked on multi-LIDAR and camera calibration, building point cloud maps and HD maps, and testing waypoint following and dynamic path planning on full-sized SUVs and sedans. During Summer 2020, I interned with NVIDIA in the DriveAV Systems Software team. I worked on sensor calibration, simulation, system integration, and unit/functional test development. Prior to these experiences, I have worked with electronics, communication, and hardware design in startups and established companies, and have filed 1 patent and published 4 other papers at national and international conferences.During my MRSD program at Carnegie Mellon, I worked with PIX Moving and a team of 4 other students for my Capstone Project, which involves the development of Payload Carrying, Navigation, and Docking Behaviours for Autonomous Vehicles. I also worked with CMU's AIR Lab on dynamic multi-drone human pose reconstruction and published a paper at IROS 2021.Before studying at CMU, I completed my Integrated Bachelors and Masters degrees in Electrical Engineering (with a minor in Robotics) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.I received my extraordinary ability green card (EB-1A) from the United States government just 3 years after graduation, in the field of machine learning (ML), robotics, and generative AI, for sustained international acclaim and contributions to the field.
