Curator of 'Street Art Alive' - A multi-sensory journey that weaves a path through 20 vibrant cities, including five of the world’s great metropolises, as well as bringing to light some of the next tier destinations where this cultural phenomenon has gained global appeal and recognition.The narrative begins with 1980s New York, the concrete jungle that gave birth to the modern street art movement and where visual artists from across the globe continue to flock; it then travels on to bohemian London, where local and international artists have decorated the streets with a staggering array of uncommissioned work; Brazilian style is celebrated with the unique energy and colours of São Paulo street art; then it’s across the Pacific to explore Melbourne’s labyrinth of back alleys and laneways that drip with graffiti, hidden in the nooks and crannies is artwork more diverse and original than any other city in the world; concluding with the graffiti Mecca of the urban art world, Berlin boasts this title with pride and merit. From the tumultuous times of the 1970s and 1980s, over the downfall of the wall, up until the present day – this fascinating journey ends when immersive art collides with hard, cold reality as visitors come face-to-face with original 4.2 m tall sections of the Berlin Wall!This whirlwind world tour has many other fascinating stops along the way. Interspersed between the main destinations, visitors will also explore a diversity of cities that are gaining a reputation in the world of urban art through the lenses of: Vibrancy, Rejuvenation, Fight For Your Right and Fresh Take On History.Street Art Alive was curated by Roland Henry and features a musical score produced by APRA award-winner Plutonic Lab. The creation of Street Art Alive is supported through the Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund – an Australian Government initiative.
