Responsible of the metallurgical process of the Port-Cartier pellet plant, which produces 4 different types of iron ore pellets on 2 different production lines for a total of 10 million tons per year. On a daily-basis, monitor and control operational and metallurgical parameters to achieve productivity, quality and costs goals. The Port-Cartier pellet plant has a higher productivity and reliability than the benchmark and the high quality of its product is well known around the industry. The metallurgical process is divided in 2 main areas : preparation and induration. The pellet feed preparation area includes the concentrate upgrading plant by lowering silica concentration and the grinding with 6 opened or closed ball mills. The induration area includes the filters, the 10 pelletizing discs, the 2 roller screens and the 2 induration furnaces.Responsible for the management of 25 technical employees (engineers and technicians), in interacting with other pellet plant area managers (operation, maintenance and technical service) and with both internal (material handling, port) and external (steelmakers customers) clients. Responsible for the utilization of energy and raw materials additioned in the process and of a yearly budget of 4 million dollars. Participate in the strategic and budgetary plans and represent the pellet plant with upper management for results and forecast reviews. Responsible for research work by watching on technological developments, by proposing and documenting quality or productivity upgrading projects and by leading laboratory or industrial scale tests.
