Co-Founder & Director
CurrentStudio Octopi makes architecture with clear intent and entrepreneurial spirit. We believe architecture’s a social, environmental and technical art, about simple ideas delivered to the greatest effect. It can enhance lives and address the most important issues of the day, and as a result people are the foreground and focus of our work. We’re thoughtful and inventive in our work, but – like our buildings – we’ll always be approachable, able to translate complex technical and contextual challenges into succinct, relatable ideas. We’re very aware of our responsibility to the environment, drawing lessons from nature to improve the performance of our buildings, and designing them to adapt over the longer term in response to life’s many variables.Studio Octopi is a RIBA Chartered Practice & a member of the London Practice Forum.

CurrentFuture Lidos is an informal network of community-led projects and campaigns around the UK and Ireland, dedicated to reviving outdoor pool swimming in our communities. The group was inspired by the collaborative energy of three National Lido Conferences convened by The Lido Guide authors Emma Pusill and Janet Wilkinson. In early 2021, Michael Wood of Northumbria University and Tynemouth Pool, Deborah Aydon of The People’s Pool, and Chris Romer-Lee of Thames Baths and Studio Octopi architects called a virtual meeting for all the lido restoration and creation projects in the UK and Ireland. The group has been meeting regularly since then, and steadily growing: there are now over 50+ known projects, and more are emerging all the time.
Co-Founder & Ceo
CurrentThames Baths CIC is developing a naturally filtering, floating lido for London. Thames Baths is seeking partners and sponsors to help deliver the project. Please get in touch via chris@thamesbaths.com if you want to help us realise this project. The proposals are focused on the River Thames but could occur in any urban waterway in London or beyond. In April 2014 Tracey Emin confirmed her support for the project and joined the growing list of Ambassadors championing the project.‘For years I have always been saying there is no reason why London can’t make more of the river and what better way to use it then create lidos for the people of London to swim in’.Tracey Emin (2014).
Co-Founder
London Modern is a cultural, not-for-profit festival that will make the case for modernism. A programme of tours, talks and events will encourage as many people as possible to value and celebrate the arts, design and architectural legacies of the mid-20th century by learning about the history and philosophies behind the movement, the experiences of people who live with its legacy, and the lessons it offers today. All kinds of modernist buildings will be festival venues: private houses, public buildings such as churches, civic buildings and schools and commercial buildings such as offices and industrial examples and residential estates. But we are not just about architecture. Through our cultural programme we will celebrate modernism in its wider forms: literature, politics, philosophy, music, fine art, and design of everything from furniture to fashion.
