Aerodynamics Lead - Amav Vfs
CurrentI am the aerodynamics lead for AMAV, a team consisting of undergraduate and graduate students. We build autonomous drones that must complete certain missions under time constraints. We compete in the Vertical Flight Society DBVF Competition. - Used Solidworks to design components of our drones including custom wings and winglets from airfoil data. - Used OpenVSP to perform CFD on a biplane tailsitter design. - Generated a drag model from CFD used to model momentum theory for the 2024 biplane tailsitter drone. - Placed 2nd in the 2023 - Placed 2nd in the 202410 hours/week
