Working in a team environment who's mission is to bring new innovative biodegradable plastics and films to market through innovative "green" technologies. My role is to supply key organo-metallic catalysts through meticulous Air-Free techniques using Schlenk lines and glove boxes. I also work with Parr process reactors as part of my daily routine in carrying out designed experiments and process optimization. My responsibilities also occasionally involve polymer synthesis and isolation. Being a small company, employees including myself, are required to identify and order materials to facilitate the company's success as well as maintain and repair equipment as necessary. Detailed documentation of experiments and constant communication with co-workers and vendors is essential for success.

Small organic product company in the Lawn & Garden sector where responsibilites changed frequently based on need. Field Testing of new formulations, product development, cost analysis, observation and photography/videography of animal behavior, establishing designed experiments, recording and reporting of data, interaction with contracted university scientist, US EPA relations, manufacturing consultant, trade show responsibility, customer service work, and reputation management were many of the respnsibilites throughout the year.

Career at Kodak involved 4 phases, starting with: 1) Two years performing and maintaining HPLC in support of the Synthetic Chemicals Division in which quality control was of the utmost. High amounts of interaction with customers as turn-around-time was often of the essence.. 2) Five years of small scale, small molecule organic synthesis under the guidance of a PhD chemist supporting Reversal Film and Color Paper Divisions. Dozens of techniques were experienced and used with confidence. Independant analysis by IR, MS, and NMR was required. Semi-annual presentation of work was also part of this experience. 3) Seven years of Synthetic Organic Scale-up of small molecular compounds on the 5 to 22L scale in support of many divisions within the company. Frequent customer and originating chemist interaction was required for success. Intensive safety training in SCBA, Bullard Hood, and other key equipment were annual requirements. Scale of work required large amounts of ingenuity to deliver highly pure compounds on time. Independant analytical testing and interpretation including high amounts of NMR and Mass Spectroscopy were neccessary. 4) Four years of Polymer Science in R&D supporting several divisions within the company predominantly synthesizing, isolating, and analyzing latex polymers. Daily interaction with peer scientists and customers was key to success.
