Oversee all aspects of operations for event management, event staffing, set-ups and changeovers, crowd and risk management, fire and life safety, building grounds and maintenance, housekeeping, and ADA compliance for a public facility that hosts 2,500 event days. Manage subordinate managers and supervisors who oversee employees in various functions. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training key personnel, planning, performance coaching, rewarding employees, addressing complaints and resolving issues. Provide direction to management staff to ensure implementation and training of all employees on the current operating procedures, preventative maintenance schedules, emergency plans, and safety/risk management policies conform to VBC standards. Work closely with Event Coordinators, Maintenance, Food & Beverage Departments and building tenants to develop time lines, schedules, and action plans for event set-up and services. Provide guidance to managers on purchases of consumable supplies, inventory control and product and equipment selection. Assist in the preparation and negotiation of service agreements as needed. Ensure facility's fire and emergency safety systems are in operating order and compliant with all codes, ordinances, and laws. Work extended and/or irregular hours to include nights, weekends and holidays as needed to support the client and staff. Perform strategic planning for all operational aspects and public safety requirements intended for arena concerts, exhibition and trade shows, multi-day outdoor events as well as the full spectrum of civic and individual events.

International security and travel experience is extensive. Assess, develop and manage all aspects of security risks, client health & welfare, executive/VIP security, transportation, and crisis management planning services for client events and meetings. Performed site inspections of hotel properties, venue locations, restaurants, and client activities. Provided security management and oversight for numerous executive meetings, sales conferences up to 5000+ attendees, customer and employee incentive events for high-tech, financial services and insurance clients. Worked closely with domestic and international travel & incentive trip suppliers such as Maritz US, Maritz Canada, Carlson Marketing Group, Gail & Rice Productions, Further Productions, TBA and others. Notable clients and projects include but not limited to Lucent, M Financial, Avaya, Nortel, Pacific Life, 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
