I started working at A&M Records in the mail room before I could drive. To me, growing up on the Charlie Chaplin lot, was one of the great privileges of my life. The lot on La Brea was a place where anything was possible. Up until that point the bands I listened to were the Beatles, The early Kinks and Cat Stevens. The summer I spent packing albums for delivery to radio stations across the country, I found myself checking out the new releases by groups like Free and Humble Pie. The live album "Humble Pie, Live at The Filmore", was a powerful concoction of Blues and British Rock and I loved it. I became a big Pie fan and went to see them play the Santa Monica Civic. Steve Mariott and Peter Frampton were a Magical combination so much that the line up was short lived. Then came Joni Mitchell and Crosby Stills and Nash and Neil Young. Later Joe Cocker and Leon Russell. My senior year in High School "Born To Run" came out with this bearded kid in a leather Jacket and the songs on that record spoke to me in a way that no other record ever did and no other record has since. I loved music and it meant something to me. A mentor of mine, Derek Green, who started Rondor Music and ran A&M Records U.K., signed the Sex Pistols, The Police, Squeeze, Joan Armatrading and Supertramp. He once said to me that the music business at best is a street sport. My father had one of the great partnerships of all time. He and his partner ran a hugely successful Record Label for 35 years on a hand shake. After working at Rondor Music for 17 years, The opportunity to move on presented itself and I started a small independent company with a partner on a handshake. Honua Music is a Publishing/Management partnership between Ron Moss and Axident, a producer from Norway. I take care of the business and Axident creates the music.
