Personally and professionally, the biggest strength and quality you will find in me is my passion for helping others. I firmly believe in empowering others, always lending a hand, and leading through servant leadership as a prior supervisor. This passion is executed through a humble, genuine, and driven personality. My professionalism can be seen in my ability to work individually or in a team, my ability to communicate and work with any group, my work flexibility, my strong work ethic, and always not meeting expectations; but exceeding them. My commitment to others and my community can be when I reached the rank of Eagle Scout at 17. This core value to help others, empower others, lead, and place others can be seen from this point forward. As a Norfolk Police Sergeant with 25 years of experience, this trait is reflected in my career. My commitment to helping others and strong work ethic can be seen as a Sexual Assault Detective and the victim advocacy I did above what was required in that role. Later, as a training officer and a police instructor, I empowered others to reach new goals and helped them bring out the best in themselves. Finally, as a Sergeant who again led by servant leadership placed the agency's mission with the care of those entrusted in my role. My success during my employment with the City of Norfolk was triumphant based on the work of those around me, my work ethic, dedication to my profession, my compassion, genuineness, and servant leadership. Following my retirement, I started a new career field with the support of the U.S. Navy. I enjoy new challenges and learning new professional areas. I have learned a new lot based on hard work, am devoted to learning my new field, helping my coworkers, and supporting my supervisor and agency mission. I am looking for my next professional challenge. I have demonstrated my ability to succeed in any work environment, learn new careers, and develop a work ethic to support my coworkers and the agency's mission. As I continue my journey, I look forward to the following professional chapter with a vital work purpose, desire to learn, and help that agency obtain its mission statement.
