Ron Silver's current engagements include sought after Lecturer/Trainer on cultural and professional ed topics, Accomplished Leader of Educational tours (Civil Rights) and provider for Continuing Legal Education (Diversity and Cultural Competency).Ron's prior career was primarily as Assistant U.S. Attorney with the U.S. Department of Justice. He was appointed Chief of the Civil Division in Oregon where he represented Federal agencies ranging from the Social Security Administration to the CIA.He was honored by the Oregon Chapter of the Federal Bar Association Specialties: Lecturer, Workshop and Conference PresenterRon has worked with students at schools in Oregon, Washington and New York, including Oregon Episcopal School, Parkrose HS, Liberty HS, Roosevelt HS, Jefferson HS, Lincoln HS, Portland Islamic Academy and St. Andrews Nativity School in Oregon, Lupine Experiential School and Gardner School of Arts and Sciences in Washington, and New Beginnings Charter School in New York.Ron has done diversity work with many organizations, government agencies and foundations including Catholic Charities of Oregon, Albina Ministerial Alliance, the Portland Chapter of the National Association of Black Veterans, Lemelson Foundation, Portland General Electric, St. Vincent's Hospital, Cedar Sinai Park, Mary's Woods Retirement Community, Clackamas County, Bilal Mosque, Oregon Women' Law Society, Washington County Bar Association, Brennan Center for Justice at NYU Law School, and the Oregon State Bar Association.Ron has done diversity training for the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Oregon, the Oregon U.S. District Court, U.S. Departments of Interior, Health and Human Services, Bonneville Power Administration and the Portland Police Bureau.Ron has taught Trial Advocacy for the U.S. Department of Justice since 1984 and for the Oregon State Bar and the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.Ron has taught Tort Accident Investigation and Abandoned Mine Safety Protocols for the National Park Service at the Horace Albright Training Center, Grand Canyon NP.Ron has guest lectured at Portland State University, Willamette Law School, Lewis and Clark Law School and Portland Community College.Ron has led week long Civil Rights immersion trips to Alabama and Mississippi for Oregon Episcopal School, Lupine Experiential School, Gardner School of the Arts and Sciences, New Beginnings Charter School (Bedford Stuyvesant, NY) Good Shepherd (New York) Children's Services (New York) and SCAN-Harbor (New York).
