My main tasks in this role were completing feasibility studies and economic appraisals for flood alleviation schemes within Northern Ireland. This included hydrological assessment of catchments (FEH, ReFH techniques), 2D Hydraulic Modelling (Infoworks ICM), outline option design and mapping production (ArchGIS).

I worked in two roles with FP McCann, firstly as a Bid Engineer within the tendering department before spending time working as a Site Agent. Bid Engineer• Review of pre-qualification and tender documentation for various types of civil engineering schemes, with values ranging between £1m and £25m,• Completion of bespoke submissions for both select list and tender applications, adhering to the criteria set forth within each response request,• Use of ‘Microsoft Project’ to complete gantt chart style programmes, linking the activities to those defined within the activity schedules or bill of quantities,• Use of ‘Autocad’ to complete 2D drafting for bespoke elements of submissions, namely traffic management plans and proposed working methodologies.• Use of ‘Google Sketchup’ to draft 3D models of work procedures specific to each project. These were a unique visual aid which helped to further clarify plans, identifying oversights.Site AgentOperating in this role I worked on various large scale projects which included the Carrickfergus Public Realm Regeneration scheme, Coleraine to Derry track relay scheme and Siemens D1 Enabling Works. I worked with clients from both the public and private sectors completing daily tasks which included,• Surveying and Setting Out – Using robotic total stations and GPS equipment I was tasked with setting out and surveying various elements,• Project Planning – Management of working squads on a daily basis, reviewing outputs and benchmarking,• Measurement – Undertaken daily to order materials for works to be completed and final works measures for activities completed by sub-contractors,• Health and Safety Management – Responsible for the welfare of all workers on site. I completed toolbox talks, site inductions, method statements and risk assessments,• Contract Management – Application for payments, review and alteration of the contract programme and direct negotiation with suppliers and sub-contractors.
