Responsible for the hardware design of several military laser products from high end missile defense systems to small hand held battery operated products. Work with an EMI test house to verify our military products pass regulatory levels. Designed and developed the BIT and thermal control firmware used on our high end platforms. Design multiple PCB's and flex circuits using the Altium CAD system.
  • Hewlett Packard
    Design Engineer
    Hewlett Packard Jan 2002 - May 2011
Work with a small team of engineers in the cost reduction group in the printer division. My job includes identifying cost savings opportunities in current products and implementing those savings in production. The savings come from more efficient use of current designs as well as designing new and unique circuits for use in our products. My work includes schematic capture (Mentor and Cadence systems), board layout supervision, debugging hardware and programming in C and Perl. I work with various vendors to include new and improved hardware into current products. I work with production to improve their processes and with the lab to have my cost reduction ideas incorporated into future products. Two of my design ideas have been published www.researchdisclosure.com as a defensive publications.
  • Hewlett Packard
    Design Engineer
    Hewlett Packard Jan 1999 - Jan 2002
Testing and debugging Hewlett Packard's PA-RISC processors. A major area of work was debugging the main PLL on the silicon through both simulation and physical measurements of the functional hardware. Also worked on the testing and qualification of an I/O Bridge IC for Hewlett Packard's Superdome computers. My work included review of the design in silicon, simulations of the circuit, writing scripts and software to verify hardware functionality and the development of new test fixtures. Received patent on a new method for new clocking generation.
  • Hewlett Packard
    Design Engineer
    Hewlett Packard Jan 1989 - Jan 1999
Redesigned an early 1970's Hewlett Packard tape drive to upgrade from RTL to TTL logic. Worked on the test and production of MO disk drive from the start of production in 1990 to the end of production in 1994. The main area of work was with the optical head assembly. After the end of production of the disk drive, worked in the lab developing SCSI and Fiber Channel I/O interfaces for our Enterprise storage juke boxes. Wrote test programs in C, and Unix Scripts as well as firmware for my designs. Design work included analog and digital interface hardware, using FPGAs and microcontrollers. Involved with hardware qualification testing per ANSI standards and with vendor management with a contract design house. Helped with regulatory testing of our designs. Received three patents on my SCSI and Fiber Channel development.
  • Rela

Worked on the design, development, and production of an RF identification system for dairy and hog farm feeding. The work was from concept to final product and included all aspects of the development process. The design work included custom single board computer design, power supply design, communication system, motor and RF interfacing. Was also involved in developing an RF tracking system home arrest market. Worked on the transmitter logic and tamper detection system for both the transmitter and receiver.
