A fun venture by my wife and I. Served specialty coffees and teas; deli-style foods; and provided live music on the weekends. This was a very upscale coffee house in an affluent city south of Kansas City, KS. We had a wonderful experience doing this.

PROGRAM MANAGER: for Sprint’s University of Excellence. Responsible for managing multiple large and small, simultaneous projects, including cross-departmental programs, for HR’s Internal Customer Relationship Management Team spanning IT, Customer Service, HR, Sales, etc.Project Highlight: • Pulled together a large National Customer Service Initiative at Sprint which nationalized Regional Management Practices, Hiring Practices, and over 100 Training Courses for their Installation & Repair Technicians and Supervisors. Also provided a web portal for online forms, scheduling and necessary documentation.Y2K PROGRAM DIRECTOR: for Sprint’s Broadband Network Management Development Area.Directed the efforts of managers, project managers, and team leads to achieve Y2K compliance by June 1999 of all hardware, operating systems, networks and applications, according to uniform practices and methods for the Broadband Network Management Development, the largest area in Sprint.Project Highlight:• Directed the Y2K maintenance program for Sprint’s Broadband Network Management Development group which had the largest number of applications and lines of code. Renovations included Hardware, OS and Applications for Mainframe, UNIX, VAX-VMX, Tandem, NT, and PC desktop platforms resulting in the lowest renovation cost per line of code at Sprint being 1/3 the average cost at Sprint and 1/4 the national average cost per line of cost -- a 3.5 million dollar savings for Sprint over the national average.DEVELOPMENT MANAGER: Hired by Sprint to assemble and manage an internal software support group for the Broadband Network Management Development area.

MANAGER OF END USER COMPUTING:Directed managers and team leads which provided all functions for hardware installs, moves, and dispositions; PC and Mac hardware, OS, and software support; unix applications; email systems; enterprise network printing; user training; and the Internal Help Desk functions for all Customer and IT departments. Responsible for departmental budgeting, acquisitions, and vendor outsourcing.Achievements:• Improved problem resolution time from 25% to 65% of problems solved within two working days through reorganizing department processes and roles. • Implemented remote PC and Macintosh software installations and troubleshooting.• Negotiated a 30% ($5 million dollar) yearly cost reduction for software license agreements with Microsoft.• Implemented an Automatic Call Distributor (ACD) for help desk.SOFTWARE SUPPORT SPECIALIST in the Technical Assistance Center: provided phone and on-site technical support to Bell & Independent Telecommunication Companies for SONET, Digital CrossConnects, and Equipment Management Systems. Also responsible for software programming, customer maintenance manual creation and ISO-9001 documentation.
