Direction routing – calculates driving directions between points. Previously used a 3rd party library, the recently released Google version is so fast (~20ms per route) that we were able to implement draggable routes on top of it. Traffic – real-time traffic analysis and presentation on maps.google.com. Google Pack – Windows client software for install and auto-update of the various Google client applications – Talk, Earth, Picasa, etc. and several useful OSS or 3rd party applications as well – Firefox, Norton AV, Skype, etc.Site responsibilities: Recruiting and hiring including working on the engineering hiring committee. Advised and helped coordinate the college intern program. Worked with Facilities Planning including lease acquisition and expansion, new building planning, valet parking negotiation, food quality management (note: Google has people specifically dedicated to many of the facilities projects so most of my role here was advisory.) Community interaction – WTIA board member, coordination meetings with Kirkland Chamber of Commerce, and local speaking engagements as a Google representative.
