My diverse experience as a local elected official, state of New Jersey department level executive, and in the political arena has afforded me the following unique capabilities, expertise and educational experience:- Extensive knowledge of state educational issues through my work on Abbott regulations- Competency in local and state government issues, specifically in budgetary, financial, ethics, environmental, community empowerment, law enforcement and non-profit development and management matters- Political experience serving in various capacities on over 25 political campaigns at the national, state, county, and local levels since the age of 10- Law degree and undergraduate degree in Political Science and Public AdministrationAs a two-term Councilman in the largest city in New Jersey, my civic agenda and accomplishments are as follows: - Created, sponsored and passed groundbreaking legislation including, but not limited to: "Ban the Box" legislation, project labor agreement for unions with apprenticeship opportunities for Newark residents, largest private housing redevelopment initiative in city's history, Sustainability Plan/Green Team and new African, Environmental, LGBTIQ Commissions- Created institutions that will serve as the infrastructure for community empowerment and communication in the West Ward and the city of Newark, including the West Ward Collective, Inc., the West Ward Block Federation and the West Ward Economic Development Corporation- Support policies and other elected officials that support the above stated vision.- Establish accountability measures for the community, residents, institutions, neighborhoods, government, non-profits, etc.
