Virtual RNs support the medical team at the bedside to alleviate the workload and provide greater satisfaction for both the patients and the nursing staff. Focusing on Admissions, Discharges, Patient Education, and chart review to ensure patients are ready for transition of care are time consuming tasks . Working virtually in this role frees up bedside RNs from being overwhelmed with paperwork and allows them to focus on the hands on nursing tasks at the bedside .

Provide Nursing Care for Patients experiencing heart arrhythmias who may require a Pacemaker or heart ablation or patients who have had a prior ablation; a prior pacemaker / defibrillator that may need an upgrade . Thorough Chart review to make sure certain medications are withheld prior to the EP Study ; a review of allergies as well as a review of all systems and medical history to be able to provide the best outcomes for my patients. Efficient Communication with Head RN, Electrophysiology MDs, anesthesia staff and scrub tech staff to insure effective flow to the days schedule in our lab.

Work closely with Anesthesia care providers, Observing patients recovering from anesthesia who have undergone procedures from general procedures to complex Cardiac procedures such as pericardial windows and throacotomies. My role is to monitor their Respiratory, Cardiac, hemodynamics, pain levels and to ensure that the patient is returning to their baseline in order to safely transfer to Outpatient, Inpatient or ICU. Timely decision making and critical thinking are a must as patients can have severe complications from anesthesia.

Closely observing patients, noting specific procedures and prescribed medication for each case: assisting doctors in providing physical assessments and administering treatments; monitoring vital signs and ensuring the proper functions of feeding tubes, ventilators, catheters and other life support equipments: attending to the patient's overall needs, such as feeding, bathing and grooming, dressing replacement, medication intake, and comfort; provide support and education to the patient's family, answering questions and facilitating communication between Physicians and patients streamlining patient care.

Participated daily in ICU rounds in CVICU, Transplant. Neuro ICU and General ICU gathering data and seeing what patients were in need of a Palliative consult. I worked very closely with the ICU intensivists and other MD's throughout the hospital. I also led family discussions, assisted in patients making memory boxes for their loved ones and being present when care was to be withdrawn or in the event a patient was actively dying I placed orders and was present to make sure they were comfortable.√ Worked directly under two Palliative Medical Physicians rounding on patients, uncovering patient values; identifying what "quality of life" means to each patient. Arranged and Participated in Family conferences; provided health information in clear and understandable terms.√ Empowering autonomy in patient decision making: played an active role in the physical comfort and emotional needs of the patient and their families while assisting them with making end of life decisions.

Completed Pre and post assessments in a Same Day Surgery Department. Prior to surgery assessed patients, IV insertion, EKG, performed any blood work needed prior to the procedure. Made sure that things were completed in a timely manner to keep the OR times on schedule. Post Op patients were under my care from 4 to 8 hours. I checked for unusual swelling, any bleeding, made sure Vital Signs were stable and if not used clinical judgement to contact the MD and see if an admission or 24 hour observation was necessary.
