Docutainment is my documentary production company. I love telling simple and remarkable stories of hope, survival, and triumph, with a particular focus on subjects who are underrepresented in mainstream media.Once I’ve identified the subject of a film, I work to gain their trust, whether that happens quickly or over the course of a few years. Then, I conduct interviews and extensive research to craft narratives, and I creatively direct the productions on the ground and in post. I also manage all logistics, including securing financing through private donors, grants, and crowdfunding campaigns, allocating budgets of $600K-$3.7M per film, hiring crews, and managing shoots that can span up to a year.Once the film is finished, I spearhead the marketing strategy, generating social media campaigns and submitting to festivals across the country. I’ve successfully negotiated distribution deals for all my work, and my projects have been released on HBO, Netflix, and Sundance Channel. Before my documentary film career, I was a successful executive in the book publishing world. At Sterling, I oversaw three different divisions, managing distribution of 5000+ nonfiction titles and spearheading global sales initiatives.My primary role was running the “special markets” business, generating the sales strategy for the non-traditional book market (i.e. non-bookstore) distributors around the world, including catalogs, big box retailers, gift shops, online retailers, book fairs, and anywhere else books are sold. I supervised more than 100 employees to manage 6000+ wholesale, retail, direct to consumer, online, and corporate accounts.In addition, I was responsible for the global licensing division, directing a team of sub-rights agents to license IP for gaming platforms, audio books, apps, book fairs, foreign translations, eBooks, and more. I also led the export sales business, initiating distribution partnerships across multiple continents and increasing international sales revenue by 50%.

My role at Simon & Schuster was similar to my position at Sterling, in that I was leading the specialty market sales strategy and supervising a team of 120+ to manage 4K domestic distribution accounts; however, here I represented a broader range of IP, including thousands of titles across adult, children’s, and audio books. One of my biggest accomplishments at the company was initiating and executing a custom and proprietary publishing program that launched new products at national retail chains that were based on existing Simon & Schuster IP, as well as popular children’s film and TV properties through a partnership with Viacom.
