I started developing websites when most people were still dialing in with their modems. Things that are now real easy to build using a 15-minute tutorial, took a long time and a lot of experiments 20 years ago. Google didn't exist yet and Altavista was the search engine of choice, not that it gave a lot of useful results when trying to figure out how to develop something (of course, there was no stackoverflow either). Back then I already found, that I really liked figuring out how things worked and getting them to work. And as soon as I know how to do something, I start looking for a new innovative challenge. Today, I'm happy to find myself back at the experimenting stage yet again. Last year I started putting significant effort in a new challenge: Artificial Intelligence. Today, Google gives lots of information on how things can be done. But still, working with data means experimenting, experimenting and experimenting a bit more. Things that work on someone else's data, may or may not work for you. As soon as new technology is released, it can be a good idea to spend some time to see how it works for you. However, just getting an AI that is able to reach good scores is by no means good enough. It's like having a brain without limbs. This enables me to use the experience I've gained in developing application in the last 20 year in combination with Artificial Intelligence. AI in combination with application development opens up a whole new field op possibilities to make AI solutions accessible and useful for almost any company. At Connect Holland we introduced our new way of working last November. After several weeks of preparations we managed to adopt the agile way of working of ING and Spotify to fit our company. I've taken up the role of IT lead, working together with our expert teams to build the best digital solutions for our clients. It is inspiring to see everyone working with new technologies for our clients, making sure that, at least from a technical point of view, they stay (or get) ahead of the curve in a digital world.
