Worked with Sam Shapiro, as founding partners, to create the Qvera Interface Engine (QIE) from the ground up using an enterprise Java technology stack and mature, test-driven development practices. QIE has proven to be a solid and robust software application that is backed by first-class customer support, has an intuitive design making it easy to use, includes the ability to auto-update to newer versions; and is backed by a thorough and comprehensive suite of automated unit and regression tests that provide superior quality control. Also played a key role in creating the QIE Certification Training programs that have been well received by the Qvera community.Actively participates in standards and healthcare interoperability organizations such as HL7, IHE and HIMSS. Regularly attends and participates as a standards implementer at various connect-a-thon, showcase and working group meeting events. Champions the use of standards to help ease the exchange of healthcare information to facilitate better communication between healthcare professionals and consequently improve patient care.Prior to the creation of the Qvera Interface Engine, worked as a professional consultant to help design and build CUProdigy™, a web-based credit union teller software application.

Serves as a co-chair for the Modeling and Methodology Work Group. The MnM Work Group oversees the FHIR Methodology and Datatypes--coordinating efforts with other Work Groups at HL7 to continue the development and advancement of the FHIR specification. Also volunteers as a track lead for the introductory Patient Track at the FHIR Connectathon events held in conjunction with each in-person working group meeting every 4 months.

First full-time developer hired by the founding partners. Helped create and bring to market ClaimZone® First Report, a complete out of the box desktop software application used to fill out and submit workers' compensation first report of injury forms electronically. This product was created using Borland Delphi and Crystal Reports.Later, helped design and create ClaimZone Manager, a web-based claims management system that covers all commercial lines of insurance and is used by some of the largest self-insured organizations across the country. Instrumental in the creation of ClaimZone Reporter, an online claims reporting application that is used as a companion to ClaimZone Manager, with both being developed using an open source Java technology stack.Helped manage a team of 10 developers, coordinating software application maintenance and development efforts between the sales staff, the quality assurance team and the customer support team. MountainView Software was eventually acquired by Gallagher Bassett, a third party claim services provider, providing experience and exposure to large corporation requirements and practices.

Started as a part-time computer programmer while going to college and then moved to a full-time position after graduation. Worked on medical billing, medical records and medical appointment software that was written using the Niakwa Programming Language (NPL).
