Partner Organization : Building Educated Leaders for Life

Worked at BELL as a part of the Education Pioneers fellowship over the summer.Analyzed the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) bill, which got passed in December 2015, to find opportunities and grants that can be utilized for expanded learning time initiatives by the organization. Using this analysis, along with a 50-states comparison of education policy, and stakeholder interviews, I developed a strategy brief for BELL's Executive Management Team that made recommendations on how BELL's public policy efforts can maximize impact for the students it serves and contribute to its overall vision.

Created a marketing plan, recruited volunteers, managed event logistics and planned and executed the Charter Champions Day of Service event to support new charter schools opening in Fall ’15. The event saw an attendance of 227 charter school supporters from across Washington. Worked alongside the Director of School Services for this.Unpacked the charter school law in Washington State (I-1240) and created accessible reference sheets for charter school leaders. Assisted in organizing the Second Annual Washington State Charter Schools Association Conference and participated in various sessions as a session host.Worked on Salesforce Integration to onboard WA Charters’ data and workflows to the Salesforce platform

Researched the federal 21st Century Skills grant for after-school programs. Created a community engagement document for the Development Team, identifying high-need communities in Tacoma using the Tacoma Housing Authority data.

Taught math to K-12 students and tracked their progress data. Made difficult math concepts easier to understand and apply through a math enrichment curriculum, mental math strategies and individualized learning plans.

Observed KIPP teachers and taught in KIPP Shine Elementary School and KIPP Academy Middle School. Participated in vision setting and planning for two weeks of summer school at KIPP Dream. Shadowed varied KIPP operations teams (Marketing, Development, Finance, Recruiting, Selection, IT, “KIPP To and Through College”).

Worked to help increase TFI alumni impact towards the organization’s long term theory of change.

Teach for India is a nationwide movement of outstanding college graduates and young professionals (4.5% acceptance rate) who commit two years to teach full-time in under resourced schools. I taught Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Social Studies to grade three students in the first year and grade five students in the second year. Student Progress – I reached significant gains with students in both English and Math. I also assisted the students with multiple extra-curricular activities including an after school program and tutoring. The fifth grade class that I taught has shown an average growth of 2.0 years on standardized testing for Reading Comprehension and a one year growth in Mathematics during the academic year.Lead to Change – I was selected to represent Mother Theresa School in the Lead to Change project initiated by a Program Manager in TFI, Pune. Through this project I was involved in creating plans for building staff and student culture in the school that would help maximize learning and minimize behavior disruptions by students.

I topped the Fast Track SAP ABAP Examination conducted by IBM securing 186/200 marks.Project: ERICSSON: I implemented OSS notes and, developed SAP objects as part of the SAP Technical Support Pack Upgrade. Project: EVIAN: I handled Production System environment’s Job Failures and Batch issues for Asia Pacific region. I was also involved in the Technical Upgrade which involved SPDD and SPAU on ABAP objects and OSS notes implementation receiving client appreciations for my work.I was promoted from Associate System Engineer to Application Developer in January, 2011.
