I am a recent mechanical engineering graduate, currently pursuing a career in the renewables sector. I am a hardworking, versatile individual, who is dedicated to meeting deadlines as well as being immersed in gaining a thorough understanding of my task in hand. I thrive in a group dynamic and gain a sense of accomplishment in helping my peers succeed whether that be in an academic or working environment. Key modules which I completed in my time at Strathclyde include; Thermodynamics, Fluid/Solid Mechanics, Electronics and Mathematics. These components have assisted me in familiarising myself with the industry. My engineering knowledge and skills consists of conceiving, designing, implementing and operating; devices, machines, engines and energy systems. The challenges faced have helped solidify a good base to my journey as an engineer. My fourth year project was centred around additive manufacturing, using software Ansys to simulate my design and estimate associated residual stresses.My MSc project assessed the feasibility of offshore renewables in the pacific coast of Colombia, in particular utilising changes in tidal ranges to harness energy through tidal barrage structures. A supply/demand analysis was then executed in terms of the power output relative to Colombias requirements.I am familiar with various engineering software such as Matlab, Solidworks and Ansys. My studies have also included professional business-like case studies modules each year which have tightened my understanding of the demanding scenarios faced in the industry.My previous and current job experience includes customer assistance in a retail environment which I’ve always been enthusiastic towards as it gives me a sense of structure to my work/life balance. The duties carried out have benefited my awareness of the workplace and the social skills which coincide, which I’ll take forward onto whatever lies ahead.
