At graduation for the Solicitor General Training Academy I earned my Sheriffs badge and the Fitness Award for my recruit class. I am looking forward to this opportunity that comes with growth and personal development as a Public Safety Community Peace Officer and Sheriff. I have taken a Northern posting within the province and have already served with distinction taking on additional roles; such as Honour Guard, Peer Supporter and Union Steward. I have have chosen to use this time to work on professional development by taking courses outside of work regarding mental health, social services and leadership. I am also dedicating myself to volunteering within the community and assisting delivery of social services.

I have the oversight role of all operations in the Calgary branch and the Greater Calgary area. My focus is on security management, service delivery and staff development within my managerial role.

My main tasks were safety through public engagement, community program development, positive community involvement and interaction,emergency response, site inspections, conducting investigations, investigating Bylaw concerns reported to Kneehill County, patrolling, checking development permits and other municipal conditions, responding to complaints as on-call officer, responding to dispatched calls, attending court, enforcing municipal and provincial legislation, working with other agencies and/or departments and educating or informing members of the public regarding safety and security.

In addition to the Community Peace Officer duties I carried at Kneehill County I carried out animal control and enforced the Animal Control Bylaw at Rocky View County. One of the other primary roles that was in addition to Kneehill County was the enforcement and or investigation of the development compliance. I wrote stop orders, compliance orders and ensured development compliance and unsightly conditions were being met under the Land Use Bylaw, Unsightly Bylaw and Municipal Governance Act.

As a Corrections Officer my main duties were the over-sight of offenders and unit operations, movement and transport of offenders, responding to emergency codes, gathering information, analysis and problem solving. I gather information through formal and informal investigations of occurrences through group or individual interviews. During these interviews, I provide referrals and guidance. Follow ups with the individual(s) are conducted and case notes documenting what happened and actions taken are noted. I have acted in all of the special project positions: of note; Correctional Service Worker, Emergency Response Team member, Medical Escort Officer, Adjudicators Assistant and Outside Work Crew Supervisor. I held positions as a Health and Safety Officer, the OH&S Committee Secretary, Peer Supporter and Union Steward.

Our branch switched over from G4S to Gardaworld.Operational Supervisor of armored car crews, providing safety and security and effective management of facilities personal and assets.My main responsibilities as a dispatcher were managing the armored car crews, overlooking access control to and throughout the building, assisting with scheduling and filling various open shifts, investigating various problems and issues that have occurred and maintaining differing forms of communication. I was the call Centre contact for crews in western Canada to provide entry. I had to provide security over-watch to local, Alberta crews and ensure customer service was provided and all service was completed. My position is the oversight of operations of Calgary crews and in part crews all over Western Canada. I am the front line application of problem solving with crews in the field and client support.

Duties entailed: Effective supervision, disciplinary and administrative management of section members, ensuring standards of dress, deportment and conduct were followed and maintained. The operational management of the three man jeep team and section 2IC were additions to the four main Military duties: security, mobility operations, detentions and policing. My primary area was working as a field MP but I did work class B at NDHQ in the Security and Investigations sections, or in Gage Town attached to the reg force garrison. I have my MP QL5 course/qualification (Government/Military security management, assessment and policy administration) and ASO (Aircraft security officer/security searching plane).
