Rory is a Certified Public Accountant with a Masters Degree in Business Administration and an experienced CFO with a total of 34 years in healthcare finance, the last 20 as a CFO. He has successfully led organizations through the constantly changing environment of the healthcare industry.The majority of his career has been spent in a large rural referral center and sole community hospital. During his tenure of increasing regulation and decreasing reimbursement, he managed the feasibility study, then subsequent financing and construction of a replacement facility. He obtained the designation of rural referral center and sole community hospital status to boost Medicare reimbursement while developing multiple rural health clinics on the edges of the service area.As the information technology world continued to evolve, Rory managed the selection and successful implementations of multiple IT conversions of increasing size and scope. He was responsible for the facility’s relationship with the bond rating agencies, and routinely communicated with the Healthcare Financing Administration and later the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services concerning the impact of proposed regulations. Rory represented the facility and the community with managed care companies and proved to them on multiple occasions the advantages of geography.Always an advocate of education, he served the Oklahoma Chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association on various committees and as Chapter President. On a national level, Rory was the Regional Executive representing Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi, and served on HFMA’s National Matrix, and he served years on HFMA’s Editorial Review Board. He was a certified Manager Care Professional and a Fellow of HFMA. He attained HFMA’s service awards from the Follmer Bronze to the Muncie Gold award. Rory was awarded the Founders Medal of Honor by the Oklahoma chapter.Rory holds the rank of 5th Dan (Degree) Black Belt with the World Taekwondo Federation in Seoul, Korea, and taught at the university level for 22 years. He is an International Referee.
