I was responsible for developing new products for Trespass and DLX, as well as handling repeat orders, focusing largely on bags as well as a variety of different outdoor-related accessories. I needed to be aware of our target market and competitors to take suitable products from an initial sample stage through to being sold in stores and online. Managed relationships with multiple suppliers in China. Ensured products were manufactured as intended with close attention to detail including labels and packaging, and rectifying any issues which are found. Had frequent and clear communication surrounding design and material decisions, and to submit sample approvals on time to prevent delivery delays. I was also involved in comparing and negotiating prices of products to ensure a suitable profit margin. Worked closely with the directors which involved presenting new product samples and reporting back to them with development progress. Used Adobe Illustrator to sketch product artwork and detail product specifications to be sent to suppliers. The product artwork was used on product packaging as well as used in the seasonal workbook which is sent to wholesale customers. Worked with the graphic design team to ensure the products have suitable packaging for stores with the correct feature information. Consulted with the garment technologist department to ensure products have suitable testing as well as warning symbols and instructions. Worked with other departments across the company including buying, retail, sales, imports and our stock warehouse.

Worked at various events as a student ambassador including Open Days and Applicant Visits where I represented my university and answered questions from prospective students and parents. Due to Covid-19, I also worked at virtual open days as well as answering questions from prospective students around the world using the platform UniBuddy.

Starting in October 2019, I got through the highly competitive four-stage application process to secure an internship through the Saltire Scholar Programme. I took part in a virtual leadership day to enhance my skills to ensure I gained the most from my internship and so that my host company could greatly benefit from me. Since completing my internship, I now act as a brand ambassador for the programme and interviewed the 2021 cohort of potential interns.

8 week internship as an optimisation intern with Coherent Scotland Ltd within their R&D department as part of the Saltire Scholar Programme.I was able to use my theoretical skills which I had gained through my degree, and apply them to projects which had great value to the company. This involved applying my product development knowledge including working to specifications and CAD modelling skills, as well as using LEAN manufacturing and 5S principles. Additionally, my entry won the July LEAN continuous improvement challenge for the Glasgow facility. At the end of my internship, I presented to the R&D department, providing them with an overview of the different projects which I had been working on.
