I work at the National Indian Center for Marine & Environmental Research & Education (NICMERE) at Northwest Indian College. I am currently a Researcher.1. I serve as the primary laboratory technician for projects i.e. to study the algicidal properties of bacteria associated with eelgrass beds, we just wrapped that project up. Currently, we are addressing a proposal to restore or enhance subpopulations of Olympia oysters to provide themselves, nearby areas, or other subpopulations with larvae. We will address this research priority by measuring the import and export of larvae to a recently restored population of native oysters. This research priority meets desired outcomes within the Healthy Coastal Ecosystems priority because it builds knowledge of ocean and coastal ecosystems.2. Another focus of my position is being the primary laboratory technician for NICMERE, this includes assisting in research, both in the lab and field, data entry and lab management. 3. Conduct environmental science research, involving students as interns and technicians.
