Beginning as a Eurofins Extractions Technician in October 2023, I specialized in organic chemistry and applied my extensive laboratory training to chemically extract organic analytes from soil and water samples using various EPA extraction methods. In January 2024, I took on the additional responsibilities of Assistant Manager in the Organic Prep Department. This included delegating tasks out to coworkers, ensuring all samples were extracted properly and on schedule, mixing reagents used in extraction, and overall supervisory tasks. As of May 2024 I have moved on to become the Sample Control Supervisor. In this new role I am a communicator, delegator, and problem solver. The department I supervise is responsible for receiving, recording, and logging client projects based on their analytical needs. In-depth knowledge of all lab departments (Organic, Wet Chem, Metals, Semi-volatiles, and Volatiles) is imperative in understanding the relationships between sample matrices, analytical tests, client needs, and turnaround times. I graduated from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2023 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies and Biology, where I developed a passion for laboratory sciences and research. Throughout my studies at HWS I focused on independent research projects regarding microplastics pollution in the marine and terrestrial environment, culminating in a thesis at the end of my undergraduate career which is currently serving as a basis for on-going research. I have a strong interest in environmental science and sustainability, and I am overjoyed to say that I am actively working to solve global challenges in this field. In my free time I enjoy camping, hiking, reading, painting, and training my dog, Apple, towards various AKC sport and obedience titles.
