In April of 2012, I received a grant from the Mellon Foundation to fund my independent research on the role that religious diversity and legislated religion play in the stability of competitive authoritarian regimes in the Middle East and North Africa. My research was presented at multiple panels, and my findings were reviewed by both peers and professors of political science, history, international relations, and religious studies.
