Responsibilities included all aspects of underwriting of Lawyers Professional Liability policies for North Carolina attorneys, including direct intake and review of applications for new and reissuing policies, risk analysis, and pricing; serviced approximately 1200 policies, including processing of mid-term policy changes; discussed coverage options with new attorneys and existing Insureds; engaged in verbal and written contact directly with Insureds and prospective Insureds regarding all aspects of coverage.

Remotely managed caseload of approximately 100 cases submitted under Lawyers’ Professional Liability Policy. Responsibilities included coverage evaluation, setting case reserves, monitoring litigation including trials, setting settlement strategy, conducting negotiations, and participating in settlement conferences and mediations.

Managed caseload of approximately 150 cases submitted under Lawyers’ Professional Liability Policy. Investigated, analyzed and rendered coverage opinions, evaluated liability and damages, established case reserves, initiated and directed settlement negotiations, monitored defense counsel through trial, participated in settlement conferences and mediations.

Investigated, analyzed and documented coverage of claims under Association Directors and Officers Liability Policies. Drafted coverage opinions, analyzed liability and damage aspects of claims, assigned defense counsel and monitored litigation, targeted appropriate cases for early resolution and alternate dispute resolution.

Defended claims under Chubb General Liability policies. Drafted pleadings, motions, legal memoranda and briefs, attended court conferences, argued motions and appeals, conducted depositions and trials, provided liability and damage analyses to insurance carrier representatives, formed case strategies, and negotiated settlements.
