Serves as the Family Readiness Support Assistant (FRSA) in the brigade and adviser to the brigade commander and command team for a multi-functional brigade of over 2,300 Soldiers and their Families. Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties in support of the commander and volunteers. Utilizes an in-depth practical knowledge related to a wide range of clerical and administrative duties Family Readiness Program requirements, issues, services, and policies. Knowledge of community and social service agencies and resources is required as they relate to the functions of the office. Provides assistance, information, referral and follow-up on all areas of Family Programs. Assist with separation from military sponsor due to mobilization/deployment and training efforts, or other duty requirements. Demonstrates sensitivity to the diverse needs of mobilized or deployed Soldiers and Family Members. Contributes to combat readiness by promoting efficient and effective communication between the Command, FRG, community resources and Family members.

Assigned to the Military Intelligence Readiness Command with duty in Middletown Connecticut in support of 30 Battalion sized elements across the United States. Responsible for assisting commanders in establishing Family Readiness organizations, by scheduling and coordinating family days, children activities and scheduling training for soldiers, leaders and volunteers. Successfully coordinated 20 Yellow Ribbon events for units with over 300 soldiers and families ensuring briefers, from the Red Cross, ESRG, Department of Veterans Affairs and 15 other Community Agencies, provided the soldiers and families vital support information useful during the all phases of the mobilization process. Prepared, published and distributed newsletters, flyers and calendars on a monthly basis for mobilized units and quarterly for non-mobilized units as well as established and maintained VFRG websites for all 30 units. Recognized by the MIRC as the subject matter expert on VFRG websites and Family Programs newsletters. • Develops family and staff rosters as well as phone trees and trains FRG leader to utilize these rosters and phone trees effectively to maximize communications the Family Readiness organization.• Recognized for successfully assisting Commanders, development and implementation of an innovative and viable family readiness and support policy, to include the development of requirements and objectives which support Army Family Programs strategy.• Consistently provides assistance to family members on areas of family services regardless when the call comes in and can be counted on to be accurate, tactful and professional at all times especially when referrals to military and community support services are required.

Provided Family Programs support for Army Reserve (USAR) Battalion, an organization of over 300 Soldiers with Companies in three states. • Key Accomplishment – Working with the Department of Connecticut American Legion and Heroes to Hometown Program, local trade unions and over 100 volunteers I coordinated the complete renovation of the home of one of our Wounded Warriors making his home wheel chair accessible, updating the electrical, heating and air conditioning and appliances, and re-roofing of the home’s garage/storage area.• Conceive, design, implement and coordinate outreach initiatives with local agencies and organizations on matters of service delivery to ensure timely and appropriate responses to social, family and financial problems of Soldiers and their families. Maintains day-to-day awareness regarding public, military and/or administrative issues impacting the Families of deployed military personnel. Assists with the establishment and maintenance of the unit's virtual Family Readiness Group (VFRG) and Army Knowledge Online (AKO) websites. Assists in instructing/training units, Soldiers and their Families on Family Readiness issues. Maintains regular telephonic/electronic contact with the Major Subordinate Command Family Program Director to receive technical support of Family Readiness activities and issues.• Supervised a staff of volunteer employees across the Battalion who provide direct contact and support to Army Families and deliver Family Programs and training to Soldiers living in 3 states in the Northeast • Planned, coordinated and executed family day events annually for the command. Maintained a database of all soldiers and family members and responsible for publishing the 325th MI Bn news letter on a quarterly basis.• Accurately, tactfully, and confidentially determines nature of request and refers only those contacts needing staff attention.
