Data analyst for the Widening Participation and Outreach department at the University of Surrey. My role included survey design and management, data analysis using qualitative data analysis software and feedback of data to the WP&O team.

During my MSc, I developed my qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis techniques and gained a greater understanding of these methods and their practical uses in research. I also was exposed to different softwares for analysis both types of data as well as how to combine the two to enhance data collection.

As part of my 'Doing Social Research' module, I was able to take part in designing a survey, carrying out the research and analysing the data that we collected. I did this along with seven other students and Dr Robert Busfield. As a result of this I learnt to use SPSS, how to design a survey and how to carry out and analyse quantitative research. This greatly improved my confidence in both my abilities as a researcher and a data analyst. I thoroughly enjoyed the project and learnt a lot of useful skills.

As part of my 'Ethnographic Project' module, I took part in a piece of research alongside eleven other students and Dr Michal Garapich. We conducted interviews in order to discover the experiences of immigrants using the services offered by the Upper Room charity in Acton (Hammersmith). This developed my interview skills immensely. I was able to write a detailed case study using notes from transcripts of the interviews I had conducted.
