Hematite Decommissioning ProjectI provided Radiological Control/Hazardous Chemical coverage for the decommissioning and decontamination of the land and buildings of the former uranium/radium fuel enrichment facility and burial grounds.I served as a Nuclear Criticality Safety Staff Designee for the safety and disposition of fissile materials.

I provided Radiological Control and Support at the Airlock / Aux Building for personnel & equipment entering / exiting the contaminated area (CA).Specific duties assigned were:

Selected by Roy Windham (SRNS RPD Manager) to take part in a pilot exercise at Savannah River Site (SRS) and Aiken Technical College (ATC). The Department of Homeland Security invited three professional team to present their skills in finding radiological threats and securing facilities. During these scenarios, I performed the duties of a role player, team guide and event evaluator.; I have performed technical radiological oversight for the American Resource and Recovery Act (ARRA) of 2009. Completed the radiological core DOE competencies and a 40-hour HAZWOPER course. Worked at the most demanding ARRA project, Transuranic Waste Remediation as part of my internship from Aiken Technical College. Specific aspects of my responsibilities include:Provide Radiological Protection support for operators performing transuranic waste remediation. Efforts include oversight, performing radiation/ contamination surveys, monitor airborne activity in Radiological Buffer Area's, Radioactive Material Area's, Radiation Area's, Contamination Area's and High Contamination Area's/ Air borne Radioactivity Area's.Confirm adherence to radiological guidelines established. Trained in first responder roles, First Aid, workplace safety, safety observation, HAZMAT spill response.Trained on portable survey instruments and count room instruments: Dose Rate, Alpha, and Beta-GammaObtained all the training/ medical surveillance required to perform work in F-TRU.
