Responsible for overseeing the safe and effective running of the Mechanical, Electrical and Animations Technicians within the Technical Services Department. To plan and monitor the engineering year to ensure delivery of safe, effective maintenance and operation of rides and associated equipment during the operational and winter shutdown season. Remain compliant with Amusement Device Inspection Procedure Scheme,(ADIPS), and hand back to operations at an agreed date.Meet set ride availability targets and business KPI's and to review existing departmental procedures.Ensure the department is fully conversant with all HSE legislation, HASWA 1974, ADIPS, HSG 175 and company H&S policy and adhere to it.Provide leadership, support and communication to the Engineering Duty Managers and Maintenance Supervisors.Manage the departmental budget, keeping track of expenditure to ensure value for money and to provide accurate and timely month end forecasts.To produce annual P&L maintenance and capital expenditure budgets for the engineering function and for the approval of the Technical Services Director by agreed dates.Create purchase orders to agreed level of financial sign off and managing stock levels including tools, equipment and PPE, ensuring there are sufficient levels available in readiness for the winter maintenance period.Monitor performance of all suppliers/contractors ensuring periodic review against selection criteria required for inclusion on Resort approved supplier list.Regular review of personal training and development plans and to ensure competencies are met and maintained. Provide any additional training required to maintain the knowledge base of the department and to manage the performance of the department ensuring an effective work ethic and strong team spirit is evident.Assist all other departments on the resort and maintain a good, clear channel of communication with them at all times.

Supervise and provide direction to the shift team at the Lakeside EFW site. Plan, implement and monitor systems and processes through good practise to maximise the process and ensuring full health, safety and environmental compliance on a 24 hour shift system.Senior Authorised Person (SAP) and HV qualified, complying with the Lakeside EFW safe system of work. Responsible for the supervision of contractors when carrying out activities on site, chairing the daily meetings to review EHS, overnight activities and planned/emergent activities for the coming day.Committed to build and maintain relationships with colleagues and on site contractors to ensure effective communications across the site.

Responsible for all documentation, training, implementation and examination and specialising in the following:Reactor control and instrumentationReactor power systemsReactor safety systemsReactor ops and associated documentationNo.2 Instructor in the Vanguard Manoeuvring Room Simulator.

Fwd Electrical Section(Wrecker L)Responsible for the maintenance, defect rectification and commissioning of the Ships systems electrical equipment. Detailed knowledge of all onboard electrical systems including control and instrumentation, safety checks and emergency operating procedures. Experience of high voltage electrical generation and distribution and its associated equipment. Qualified watch keeper on Submarine systems control console ensuring the highest of standards are kept during normal and abnormal operations. Also responsible for the training and development of subordinates in the section.

Fully qualified Category B watch keeper Machinery Control Desk Operator (Reactor Panel Operator) and employed as the Air Purification Maintainer. Responsible for the maintenance, defect rectification and commissioning of all Submarine atmosphere equipment and Chilled Water plants. Liaising closely with inboard authorities and civilian contractors. As part of the Divisional staff within the Defence School of Marine and Air Engineering. Responsible for the established training regime within HMS Sultan, it's course content and delivery to the students. Directly responsible for the training, development and pastoral care of over 60 students. Completed Divisional Officers Course, Defence instructional Techniques, Train the Trainer, Listening Skills and other relevant courses available to better understand the needs of the individual whilst maintaining an inspirational but sympathetic approach. Fully CRB checked and adhering to all HSE policy and practices.

Fully qualified Category C Systems Control Panel Operator and Shut Down Watch keeper. Specialising in Power Distribution, Motor Generators, Turbo Generators, Lighting, Motors and Starters, Control Systems, Health and Safety and Training. Responsible for maintenance, defect rectification and commissioning of all section equipment and liaising with inboard authorities and civilian contractors within a strict time frame.Responsible for subordinate Development within the section and to other junior members through lectures and demonstrations.Completed Senior Rates Command Course (4 weeks residential course) in October/November 2003 and was assessed as best student on course and was the recipient of the Herbert Lott Award. Passed Unit Watch keeping Certificate and achieved rank of Chief Petty Officer in January 2006.

Attended the Artificer Candidate Course. A 32 month academic and practical skills course at the Defence School of Marine and Air Engineering, HMS Sultan, Gosport. The following modules were included:170 hours instruction in use of machine tools and workshop practise in fitting and turning. 100 hours instruction in soldering, brazing and sheet metalwork. 150 hours instruction in crimping, cable connections, electrical soldering for board manufacture, practical wiring and printed circuit board manufacture and repair. Successful completion of test pieces for each modular activity. Awarded HND in Marine Engineering on successful completion.

Joined HMS Spartan as a Marine Engineering Mechanic (Electrical) Scale C. On successful completion of Submarine 'Dolphins' I commenced training towards qualification as Throttle Control Panel Operator (Category D) and Shut Down Junior Rate. Working as a valued member of the Secondary Electrical section, Generation section and Primary Electrical section in turn, assisted the section Senior Rate in all aspects of maintenance and defect rectification whilst enhancing my own skill set. Completed Auxiliary Machinery Certificate to achieve Scale B in 1994 before passing Professional Qualifying Examination for Leading Rate and Scale A in 1995. Promoted to Leading Marine Engineering Mechanic (Electrical) in 1996 and was provisionally selected for Artificer Candidate Course in Sept 1999 after successful completion of Leading Rates Leadership Course in July 1999.
