I have always been excited about technology. Learning new skills and improving existing ones keeps me focused and keeps IT interesting. I am psyched about PowerShell and automating tasks and scripting out time-consuming tasks. I do not like redundant manual data entry – yuck! I will automate or script out just about anything that will take me a while to do manually. I've created some scripts interacting with active directory to give administrators a good view of assets that can be reused (phone ID’s, equipment, etc…) I've had the opportunity to work a lot with VMWare on premises and that has been exciting. I have been using Pluralsight to learn more about Azure and have even set up test environments in Azure for proof of concept. I also use VMWare's hands-on labs to learn about systems I do not have access to in production. I keep going back and forth about purchasing a used server to have at home for a lab.I see real value in my work when I see it helping people do their jobs more efficiently. In my free time, I occasionally will do some things with my raspberry pi. A company we were using for thermostat control inspired me to tinker around with a temperature sensor, Arduino, and raspberry pi. The result was a temperature logger. Outside of computers, I enjoy playing guitar and doing some woodworking. I’ve built some nice end tables, a couple of which were donated to a fundraiser for cancer research.
