I rejoined the lifeboat and spent 5 years enjoying the buzz of having the pager go off at any time if day or night. It's an amazing organisation to be a part of and every shout was interesting. Sadly moving to mainland meant I had to leave too soon. The sound of a pager still makes me jump.

Dead Sea To Mount Everest.

EverestMax was the first expedition to successfully travel from the lowest point on earth to the highest - from the Dead Sea to Mount Everest - by manpower alone.There were 5 members of the cycling team and 2 support staff. The expedition cycled 5000 miles travelling through 8 different countries - Jordan, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, India and Nepal, finally reaching Everest base camp on the North side in Tibet at 5200m. A climbing team joined the expedition on the mountain to attempt the ascent of Everest.The whole expedition took 6 months - 4 cycling and 2 on the mountain. Three members of the cycling team made it to the top of Everest, successfully completing the challenge. As support staff we made sure the cyclists had plenty of good food and water, half decent accommodation, constant back up and lots of encouragement through rain, snow and high winds -quite a challenge through such a varied and diverse range of countries and cultures.We also managed to cycle 1000m and climbed the North Col on Everest at 7100m. Cowes

I was a crew member on Cowes Inshore Lifeboat. I was on call day and night to provide emergency assistance to those in trouble in the Solent.There were a lot of routine callouts and patrols interspersed with some very serious incidents and loss of life. It was a fascinating experience that definitely enriched my knowledge and understanding of the Solent and all that floats (or sinks) on it.
