I have always worked in criminal law. My work has ranged from preparing Crown Court cases to running my own large case load. I have run my own Crown Court department, during which time I obtained my legal qualifications part time whilst working full time. I have handled very serious cases including, murder, manslaughter, stranger rape, historic sexual offences, grevious bodily harm and riot.Post qualification I became a duty solicitor in a busy high street practice and obtained my higher rights of audience. I then began to conduct my own cases in both the Magistrates' and Crown Court.I then went to teach criminal law and litigation on the LPC and was subject leader for criminal litigation and advocacy on the LPC. I taught many other subjects at undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have taught in Hong Kong. I had the privilege of being involved in recruiting students to the LPC and travelled to Trinidad and Tobago many times to so do. I have also, more recently dealt with the mentoring and coaching students who are attempting their Solicitor's Qualifying Examinations (SQE) assessments. After years of teaching my career has gone full circle. I am back in criminal practice, mainly dealing with the preparation of Crown Court cases.
